Dana Lustig

Dana Lustig is an Israeli-American filmmaker. She has directed five feature films and produced over twenty-five independent features and two television series.

PRODUCING

Dana is an executive producer of Reading Lolita in Tehran, based on the New York Times bestseller and directed by acclaimed Israeli filmmaker Eran Riklis. The film won the Audience Award at the Rome Film Festival. She recently produced Breakwater, an elevated thriller starring Dermot Mulroney, Mena Suvari, and Darren Mann.

Other notable producing credits include the true survival story Jungle, starring Daniel Radcliffe and filmed in Colombia and Australia. The movie is based on the bestselling memoir by Yossi Ghinsberg. Dana also produced Look Away, starring India Eisley, Jason Isaacs, and Academy Award winner Mira Sorvino. She produced The Frontier, which premiered at SXSW, and served as executive producer on Spider in the Web, starring Ben Kingsley and Monica Bellucci.

For ten years, Dana was a partner at Bergman Lustig Productions alongside Ram Bergman. Among their productions were Brick, directed by Rian Johnson, and Dancing at the Blue Iguana, directed by Oscar nominee Michael Radford and starring Emmy winner Sandra Oh.

DIRECTING

Dana directed the dark love story A Thousand Kisses Deep, starring Jodie Whittaker (Doctor Who) and Dougray Scott (Mission: Impossible II). The film was nominated for a British Independent Film Award (BIFA). Her other directing credits include the comedy Wild Cherry, starring Tania Raymonde and Rob Schneider, and Confessions of a Sociopathic Social Climber, starring Jennifer Love Hewitt, which became the highest-rated original telecast in Oxygen network history

She also directed and produced Kill Me Later, starring Selma Blair, Max Beesly (The Gentlemen), and Sarah Chalke (Scrubs), which was featured in Leonard Maltin’s prestigious list, Fifty Films That Got Away: Movies You Really Ought to See. Upon its release by Lionsgate, The Hollywood Reporter wrote, “Lustig creates the kind of film the movie world could use more of.”

Dana’s directorial debut was Wedding Bell Blues, starring John Corbett, Paulina Porizkova, Illeana Douglas, and Julie Warner. The Hollywood Reporter praised the film’s festival and theatrical run, noting, “…You can practically hear the sighs of the women in the audience who relate to the problems of the three heroines…”

TELEVISION

Dana is an executive producer and co-creator, alongside Ram Landes (Your Honor), of the upcoming ten-episode docu-reality series The Americans.

She also executive produced the second season of the hit Israeli TV series Very Important Person, which was nominated for six Israeli Emmy Awards.

AFFILIATIONS

Born in Israel, Dana served as an actress and filmmaker in the Israeli army before moving to Los Angeles to study at the American Film Institute. She is a member of the Producers Guild of America, SAG-AFTRA, DGC, and the Israeli Film Academy.

Dana is the author of Making a Movie: From Concept to Red Carpet, based on her popular lecture series at AFI, Sundance Collab, and the New York Film Academy.

PERSONAL

Dana is married to renowned drummer, composer, and music producer Tal Bergman. Together, they are the proud parents of twins, Maya and Guy.
